Around the World in Clay

Do you know how clay was discovered? Come find out! Students will replicate some of the most ancient forms in clay. From Mesopotamian and Mesoamerican, to Chinese and Native Americans, each civilization rich in culture, tradition, and innovation.

Tree of Life

Campers will build a large scale tree teeming with plant and animal life. Perhaps a makeshift ladder leading to a secret fort? Or personalize it with initials carved in the bark next to the tire swing. Is that an owl peeking out of its owl hole? This one is for the imaginers.

Sell Your Stuff

Join us for the 3rd Annual Macon Clay Art Exhibit at Macon Arts Alliance on First Friday, August 2nd 2019 in downtown Macon. This camp week is geared for making art work to sell in the gallery and having an experience to meet and greet their patrons at the reception on opening night.
All Macon Clay students are welcome to participate.

Human Architecture

Campers will model both ancient and modern iconic architectural wonders and learn about the history, culture, and architects involved in each masterpiece. These magnificent, and mathematical structures will include the Pyramids of Giza, the Rome Colosseum, NYC’s Guggenheim, and Dubai’s Burj Khalifa.

Animal Architecture

We will be busy bees this week learning about all the amazing animals and insects that build their own homes, not just for protection, but for beauty too. Did you know that dirt dauber nest your garage was made from clay and saliva? Come learn more about these wonderfully talented creatures.

July 22-26 * 9am-12pm

Modern Masters

Recreating some of the most recognizable modern sculptures of the 21st Century, students will learn about Rodin, and the beginnings of modern sculpture. Throughout the week we will work our way through Brancusi, Giacometti, Moore, Bourgeois, and more.

July 29-Aug 2 * 9am-12pm

Garden Goodies

Hand built planters, birdbaths, and critters for the yard. Candle holders, succulent pots, and a plant stand for the patio. These one of a kind garden creations will be made with a high temperature clay and finished with bright glazes that are suitable and durable for the outdoors.

Class includes all materials (clay*glaze*firing)

A light snack will be provided
Tuition is due at time of registration
